FSB Shuts Down Dall Sheep Hunting

On July 26th 2022 The Federal Substance Board or as I like to call them the anti wildlife/ anti conservation board voted unanimously to enact WSA 22-02 Which will eliminate Dall sheep hunting in the Brooks Range on federal public lands of Alaska in unit 24A and unit 26B west of the Sagavanirtok river for the 2022-20224 wildlife regulatory cycle. This goes against the guidance and contradicts what Alaska Game and Fish stance on the matter (READ THIER STANCE HERE). Once again the federal level thinks they know better than the people that actually live there no surprise.

Dall Sheep Hunting Opposed vs Supported of Closure

According to SCI there was an overwhelming amount of opposition to this closure (11:1 ratio). Sci Alaska President Steven Lindquist provided a written comments on this . What is interesting Deb Halaand who was strongly supported by BHA (back country hunters and anglers) also supported this closure. Still the FSB Shuts Down Dall Sheep Hunting on Federal land. Despite the strong opposition from local hunters, the Alaska Game and fish, and other experts.

As we talked about on a previous episode of D&D Outdoors the Government is constantly over stepping in wildlife management.

What is your Opinion on this?
